What is your site used for ?

In brief, it allows you to do the following:

Create gift-lists (or purchase lists) for any type of event or celebration : Wedding, birthday, birth, retirement...You can create a list for yourself or for someone else and to share it with whomever you wish. Your lists can be filled with any item whether found on the internet or not. We have created a tool for you called gift-tracker. Should you wish you can use it to help compile your list with items to be found on the internet. It is equally possible to add items manually.
Create and share photo albums.
Find gift ideas with our gateway to the internet. This gateway in no way restricts your option of choice.
We propose other useful services: like creating a personalised access map, etc...

How does the gift-list management work ?

In the zone My Lists, you can create as many lists as you like and fill them with as many or as few items as you wish. You can keep the list private just for you own use. Or invite those you want to be able see each list (just enter their e-mail addresses). You can share the list : Those sharing can add items and post comments. This makes for a fun experience for the group. A private chat-room is assigned to each list to use if you wish. This allows for discussion of ideas between friends about the gifts and the event itself adding to the pleasure of the experience and avoiding multiple telephone calls, crossed-wires and blind alleys. You can choose to associate a photo album to it, in which you can add photos and comments and share it with whoever you would like to add their own photos and comments. You can distribute a list to your circle of friends (by e-mail) directly from the site.

Why create a list on this site rather than going to a shop or department store which already offers a similar service ?

There are 3 major advantages. You can create your lists from the convenience of your own home. You have access to all commercial internet sites and highstreet shops. No more restriction to stay with one shop or group of shops. Warmth and friendship is always there on-site: chat-room, photo album and the shared experience. And everything stays within your own close circle of friends and family (absolutely no surveillance, as with blogs for example).

Are your services really free ?

Yes, our services are absolutely free, no strings attached and no small print or hidden surprises. And no unwanted spam or advertising !

How do the guests proceed to reserve and buy a gift ?

The site Easy-wishlist is not a merchant website and don't sell any gifts directly. The site makes available a description of the gift and a link redirecting to the online shop selected by the organisator of the list. First, a guest willing to offer a gift must reserve it (promise to buy) in order that no one else can buy it. Then, a link to the online shop is proposed to actually buy the gift. It's so simple. However, your are not obliged to buy the gift in the shop proposed by the organisator: it can be bought anywehere !

How to take a share or give money for a gift ?

For expensive gifts (travel...), it is interested and possible to take a share (contributions). In this case, The organisator of the list can, for example, make available his bank account number for direct transfer or a Paypal adress to be able to use a credit card. The site does not accept money directly. Practically, the guests can save their promises of contribution on the site (which calculates the amount left). Then, the participants manage to send the money by following the insctructions given by the organisator (bank transfer, envelope, Paypal...).

Do you sell or otherwise distribute my email address and list details to a third party ?

No absolutely not ! Some list creation sites probably do indulge in such practices, selling lists for direct marketing purposes. We consider this practice unacceptable especially when done without permission. We guarantee to respect your privacy.

Can anybody see my lists ?

By default, your lists are visible to those you invite by typing your name in the list search on the home page. No invitee is able to change your list. This also prevents pirating. If you want to keep your list completely private, you can choose the option Private List. Regardless of your choice (open or private), you keep the possiility to share the list with your chosen group and benefit from the extra options such as the mini-forum and photo album.

How do I create a list ?

Its really simple, once you have joined. To do that go to the menu -My Lists- and follow the instructions.

How do I join ?

All you need to enter is a minimum of data for the site to function: Your e-mail address and a password. And we also ask for your name and surname to identify your lists. Your e-mail is needed in case you forget your password, which is resent by e-mail. After you have completed the membership form, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with a link back to the site for activation.

Can I add a gift from any internet site I wish ?

Yes, of course, and you don't need to type in the vendors website address, which is often long. Instead you can simplify the choice by using our gift-tracker tool, which is available in your welcome page -My Lists- or from -A friend's List- for the members of your group. Your friends can add gift suggestions into your list and vice-a-versa !

How do I add an item to my list ?

There are 2 ways to add an article to a list. Surf the web: As soon as you find a product which interests you, click on the link to the gift-tracker. After a quick process to store the appropriate data, the product becomes part of your list of choices. The other way is to manually enter the data into a form we have created especially for this option.

Can I add a gift to my list from a real shop (i.e. not using the internet) ?

Yes. You just have to add the details manually in your member area at "Add a Gift" link.

How do I share a list with my family and friends ?

Once you have created your gift-list, you can share and distribute it. The people you distribute it will receive an e-mail containing a link for direct access to your list. They can then enhance it, add comments in the mini-forum, photos, etc...All this is managed from the member area. It is also possible to distribute the access-key to your list using you own means (your email, phone, etc...). For some of you who manage a blog or a personal website, it is possible to display dynamically your list (automatic update) thanks to a simple HTML tag. All this information is detailed at the page "Share and distribute".

What is the gift-tracker and how do I install it ?

The gift-tracker is a simple tool, which helps you to add gifts from any website with just a mouse click. It is free and can be automatically installed as a button (toolbar) in your browser. If you prefer not to install anything, you can just set up your browser by adding a smart favorite (so called bookmarlet). The gift-tracker is compatible with the major web-browsers . When you join, the differents options are proposed. You can also activate the gift-tracker from your member area by clicking the "Add a gift" link. In order to suggest gift a idea, a friend can also activate it from its guest area.

Does the gift-tracker spy on me while I'm internet shopping ?

No, in no way. YOU decide to lunch the gift-tracker each time you are interested in an item on a web page. There is no automatic run of the program which could save what you are doing while you are surfing on the web.

Does the gift-tracker bombard me with adverts (pop-ups and banners etc.) ?

No. Neither popups nor junk-mail nor adverts. We know how annoying these can be, and how they would put off our users.

The gift-tracker is not working. What should I do ?

First, check that javascript is activated in your browser (go to -Options- of the browser menu). If you use Internet Explorer 7, check that the anti pop-up filter (which blocks unwanted publicity windows opening on your screen) is in -medium- position (the default) and not on -high-. Finally, check that you are not using an old browser which is not capable of handling javascript correctly (maybe it's time for an update !) . Each time you want to insert an item in your list from a web page, be sure you are on a product page, actually describing the item, with a picture on the foreground and a price. In fact, if there a many items on the visited web page, the gigt-tracker may not catch the information you want. The gift-tracker works very well on almost all the shopping web sites. With some sites using the Flash technology, a picture of the item cannot be captured. However, there are very few shopping web site using this technology. If gift-tracker still doesnt work or doesnt work on some sites; please contact our help-line by using the form on this page, and please be sure to tell us which browser you are using.

I've forgotton my password, what do I do to retreive it ?

Just go to the page -My Lists- and use the -lost or forgotten password- form not forgetting to give us your e-mail address (the same one you used to subscribe). Your password will be sent to you automatically.

How can I un-subscribe ?

Just ask the help-desk (with the form at the top of this page) giving us your login name and password in the message. Your account and related data held by us will be definitively deleted.
